At by-bar, we believe in washing less to extend the life of your clothes. Frequent washing can harm their quality and impact the environment. Instead of washing after every wear, air out and shake your garments, this is often enough for another wear. Treat stains right away to avoid using the washing machine. For stain removal tips, visit Clevercare. Let’s care for your clothes and the planet.
Always check the care labels, found inside your garment and try to wash them at low temperatures (max. 30°C) or cold. Remember, different fabrics and delicate designs deserve their own unique care routine. Fill your washing machine efficiently to save water and energy, but avoid overloading. Too much friction can lead to wear and less effective cleaning. Also, be mindful of sorting your laundry. Separate light and dark colours. And last but not least, take your clothes out of the washing machine as soon as it’s done to keep them fresh, wrinkle-free, and free from mildew.
One of the best choices for both your garments and the planet is to let them air-dry naturally. Take your damp clothes out of the washing machine as soon as possible, to prevent wrinkles and mildew. Give them a gentleshake, reshape them (especially jersey fabrics), and air-dry on a drying rack or hanger.
How to take care of your fabrics

wool
Wool garments are true wardrobe investments. Valued for their exceptional warmth and durability, wool is also naturally breathable. It’s naturally resistant to odors, meaning that simply airing out your garment between wears is often enough to refresh it. If washing is essential, always use a dedicated wool detergent and follow the care label. Gently reshape the item and lay it flat on a clean towel or drying rack to fully preserve its fit and quality. When storing, fold your knitwear and store in a cool, dry place.
Wool garments may develop pills during regular use. Gently restore your garment using a wool comb or a fabric shaver, taking care not to damage the underlying fibers.

viscose
Viscose is a lightweight and breathable fabric that keeps you comfortable. Its subtle sheen and fluid drape give it an elegant, luxurious look.
Viscose may shrink 4-8% after washing, but don’t worry! Simply reshape the garment gently while it’s still damp. To maintain the beauty of your garment, it’s crucial to avoid high spin speeds and always skip the dryer. You can also lightly iron it inside out on a low temperature while it’s still slightly damp to help it regain its shape.

denim
Denim is a investment piece designed to tell your unique story—its character and fit only improve with time.
We encourage airing your denim between wears, which saves water and energy. When a wash is needed, always turn the garment inside out, use a cold cycle with a mild detergent, and wash with similar colours to preserve the dye and reduce fading.
To maintain the original fit of your denim, never use a tumble dryer. Hang the garment to air dry, and take a moment to gently reshape it while damp.

cotton
Cotton is a soft fabric that’s perfect for everyday wear. Its natural feel and comfort make it ideal for all seasons, and it’s easy to care for, making it a essential choice.
Cotton is pretty low-maintenance, but it benefits from some thoughtful care. We recommend washing cotton items with mild detergent in cold or lukewarm water to preserve their softness and colour. Avoid using hot water, as this can cause shrinkage. To maintain it’s quality, rinse thoroughly and prefer air drying. Store your cotton items in a cool, dry place to keep them fresh.
repair & second chapter
We all can contribute to sustainability by choosing quality, conscious made clothing and extending each item’s life through care, repair, and recycling.
Instead of discarding damaged or torn items, consider repairing them. Whether you learn simple fixes yourself or support a local repair shop, keeping your piece looking flawless extends the life of your clothes and also reduces waste.
If a beloved by-bar item no longer feels essential in your wardrobe, let its journey continue! Choosing second hand gives your garment a second chapter, allowing someone new to fall in love with a quality piece built to last.
Making conscious choices can make a big impact.
